Jerry Healy is taking his vacation this week. Col. Frederick A. Phillips made a business trip to Chicago today. ’ ' 1 ! Mabel Atwood went to Chicago this forenoon. Mrs. Earl Clpuse is spending the day in Chicago. Mrs. S. L. Jordan, Day Jordan and William Jordan went to Indianapolis today.

Radcliffe, who had been visiting relatives in Chicago for a few days, reutrned to her home here this forenoon. , Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Mills, daughter Dorothy Jane, and Linn Parkinson returned home Sunday evneing from a very pleasant outing at Bass Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Frank McGuire and children, of Okmulgee, Okla., who were guests here of Dr. W. L. Myer and family, left today for their home. Mrs. John Healy, daughter Marie and son Johnnie, left this morning for South Haven, Mich., where they will visit with Mrs. Healy’s sister. S. Brykezynski, first class gunners mate from the United States navy, who is here as a recruiting officer, is spending the day in Indianapolis.
Ellen Woods, of Monmouth, 111., is the guest of Jane Parkison and Luella Robinson. The girls were school mates in college at Jacksonville, 111. Michal Wagner has gone to Indianapolis to undergo a physical examination. If successful he expects to be assigned a place with the First Indiana Regiment supply company. Attorney P. R. Blue, of Wheatfield, is here today to look after matters connected with the county commissioners’ court. Mr. Blue is the county attorney. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Yeoman and Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Yeoman left this morning for a trip through the west; They will visit among other places, Pike’s Peak, Colorado Springs, and the Yellowstone National Park.
Edward Curts and Henry Brunk, of Newton county, are to be the guests of Sheriff McColy for fifteen days. They were arrested recently for intoxication and found guilty, being fined $2.00 and costs, amounting to $14.45 in all. They were sent here for safe keeping. LARGE FARM FOR RENT. John Hopkins, who had been having considerable trouble with his ear, underwent a slight operation Monday at Washington Park hospital. The operation consisted of the removal of a slight obstacle and it is hoped that this will correct the difficulty. Mrs. Hopkins remained with her son and Attorney Hopkins returned to his home here on the evening train.

Walter, Manager Lawler Ranches, Telephone 337. J. A. Washburn and Frank Peck, members of the Remi igton school board, were here today making their statistical report to Superintendent Lamson. They have selected the following teachers for next year: Superintendent, F. L; Wildrick; H. S. principal, to be supplied; assistant high school principal, Martha Bonham; supervisor of music, Helen Odell; supervisor of manual training, A. J. Reams; grades, Caroline Dowling, Nettie Lambert, Gertrude Besse, lona Beard. There are still one or two vacancies. Sheriff McColly received a telephone call last Saturday from Indianapolis telling him. to be on the lookout for a Hudson automobile which had been stolen from a party in that city. The auto was described as having red wheels. Monday afternoon a call came from Remington which stated that a machine answering that description was headed this way. The sheriff and his deputies waited and when they saw the car approaching swooped down on it and much to their chagrin found that the driver of it was David Yeoman, of our own city. After a good laugh all around Mr. Yeoman was allowed to proceed on his way and the guilty party is still at large.
