Thought Cartridge Was Bad.

Lester Wortley, the ten year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wortley, who live six miles south and a half mile west of Rensselaer, accidentally shot himself Monday about 12:30 p. m. Young Wortley and a neighbor boy named Brown had been shooting birds in the trees in the yard with a rifle. One cartridge had been snapped a time two and was thought to be no good. Young Wortley took the gun and in som> way it was discharged and the bullet entered the pit of his stomach. For an hour the ]ad paid no attention whatever to the accident and claimed he had not been shot. But afterward he was taken very sick and was brought to the county hospital. An x-ray examination indicated that the hnllet had glanced downward and was lodged in the upper part of the young man’s leg. It is hoped that the bullet did not enter the abdomen and that the young man will speedily recover.
