GETS REGISTRATION DAY PAY

Only Clerk In United States to Claim Compensation for Work Loses His Job. Albany, N. Y.—Lack of patriotism, or rather an attempt to capitalize it, has proved an expensive and humiliating proposition for an upstate city clerk. The city clerk Involved was the only one In the state who claimed the federal compensation of $7.50 for his day’s work in connection with the federal registration on June 5. The adjutant general’s office was advised that the man in question has been reduced from his position as city clerk to janitor of the city hall by the • authorities as a result of his claiming Uncle Sam’s money for performing the patriotic service which was* rendered by every other city clerk without compensation.
