Will Receive Extra Pay.
Elizabeth Spaulding, manager of the Western Union Telegraph office here, received notice Thursday that the company had decided to give to its employes an amount equal to 8 per cent of their wages. The circular reads as follows: Chicago, June 6th, 1917. Circular No. 311-17. Managers, Sixty District: The following announcement, by President Carlton, is transmitted with great pleasure. To Employees: The very exceptional conditions that continue to prevail have led the board of directors to authorize two special payments, one about July Ist, 1917, covering those employes who were with the company on January 2nd this year, and the other payment about January Ist, 1918. covering all employes who are with the company from July 2nd next to the end of the year. Expect payments to be made as follows: , , Messengers: $12.50 for each of the six months’ periods. Employees receiving less than sl£ 200 per annum, 8 per cent of the half year, payable as above. aoa Employes receiving $1,200 to $1,999 per annum, 6 per cent of the half year payable as above, with minimum of SSO payable a sabove.
