Meeting to Be Heid to Form Live Stock Association.

A meeting of the live stock breeders of Jasper county will be held at the office of the county agent at the court house Saturday afternoon, June 9th. at 2 o’clock, for the purpose of considering the organization of a county live stock breeders’ association. '■— This meeting is called at the recommendation of the live stack committee of the Jasper County Better Farming Association, which believes that the live stock industry has develoned to such an extent in the county that the breeders can accomplish more by organized- effort than they can by working individuallv. Chauncey Wood, chairman of the committee, recently said: “By forming an organization of breeders will create a demand for more pure bred sires in the country than has existed formerly. This will help every live stock producer and incidentally will create a market for our pure bred breeding stock. The recent McCray sale was an indication that the farmers of the United States are taking a greater interest in the best class of live stock than they have ever taken before. “Such an association will afford the small breeders of the county an economical means of advertising. Manv county organizations in the country are able to carry advertisements in newspapers that individuals could nib; afford and some go so far as to issue special catalogs each season. “I hope that our association, if formed, will be able to promote live stock shows and other educational campaigns. This year I have started this matter in a small way myself, but I am sure that a great deal more could be accomplished along this line if our breeders were organized so that all could help.” “When our association is on its feet and has built up a reputation by choice breeding stock ana honest dealing, we can hold sales which will attract more than local buyers. A buyer will more readily mstify the expense in traveling to a community where he can inspect a large number of animals at one time than he will to inspect a few,” -- i The meeting will be in charge of County Agent Learning and wall be addressed by J. W. Schwab, of the division of animal husbandry of Purdue University. All persons interested in pure-bred live stock of any kind are cordially invited to be present'at "tillsmeeting."*-*?-—-^——
