New Trustee Salary Law As Passed By Legislature.

An important law affecting township trustees as to-duties and salaries was pasesd by the recent legislature. The principle of classification is used, which divides all trustees of the state into 10 divisions, the basis for classification being: ’ Population, 42,& per cent; Taxes assessed, 42Va per ceht; Number of teachers, 10 per cent; Number of miles of township roads, 5 per cent. The latter item referring to roads is made necessary by the abolishment of the office of road supervisor, the care of the highways being placed with the trustee. Present road supervisors will continue until Jan. 1, 1918, but the trustees wijl not be fully class ■ ified until Jan. 1,1919, when the terms of the present officials expire. However, that part referring to expense ; rental and ditch repairs becomes .effective at once.
