Gum arable naturally exudes from the bark of Acacia Senegal, a tree native to North Africa. Other species of Acacia are drawn upon, though yielding a slightly inferior product. Tragacanth is from shrubs of Astragalus, a native of Asia. While Astragalus is common in- western America none of - them seems to be of value for tragacanth. The most shrubby local spades } is A.
