Joe Allen, the varnish man, claims that the oldest joke is the one about the negro who had never seen a fiqgerpr|pf Impression photographed. A hen -roost was robbed one night and the owner found some finger prints in the ,dirt. He had one of these photographed -arid . the photograph enla*rged. The finger grint was traced to a negro named Mose, and after being accused, Mose admitted his guilt after seeing the enlaced impression, but added: “How did yo’ all git that photograph of them eorduroy pants 1 wpre that night?"—Detroit Free Press.
