Evening Republican, Volume 21, Number 57, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 9 March 1917 — Overland Stitch. [ARTICLE]

Overland Stitch.

The overland stitch is used for Joining the two selvage edges of muslin and other materials. The selvage edges Bhould be carefully basted together, then overhanded with small, close stitches and strong thread. Take the stitches on the extreme edge and when finished press the seam with the thumb. This will make the edge smooth and flat so the joining will scarcely bo noticed.
