Mrs. Sarah Ravenscroft Died at Remington, Sunday
Mrs. Sarah Ravenscroft <Jf near Remington, mother of Mrs. J. F. Irwin, of this city, died Sunday morning at the age of 94 years, fief death was due to the infirmities of old age. Mrs. Ravenscroft Is probably as old as any one in Jasper county and had resided in this vicinity for a great number of years. Mrs. Ravnnscroft was born April 27, 1822. James Monroe was president at the time of her bhth, and in the span of her life the American frontier has been extended from the Mississippi river to the Pacific Ocean. Mrs. Ravenscroft had made her home on her eighty acre farm, 2 1-2 miles from Remington ever since the death of her husband. Sampson Revenscroft, her son, made his home with her. The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o’clock.
Isaac Leopold, of Wolcott, started for Denver, Colo., this forenoon for a visit. Simon is greatly improved m heatlh and is making arrangements to enter business in the west.
