COULDN’T KID JOE
“What*ll you give me, Joe, If I don’t crack out a hit?” said Jack Graney when he came to bat in the ninth inning of Bush’s recent no-hit game. O’Neil and Coleman, the latter batting for Coumbe, had both struck out, each taken a healthy but fruitless swing at the third strike. Graney alone remained between Bush and fame. “You know this means a lot to you, Joe," continued Jack in his bantering way, “and you ought to slip me a nice piece of change If I, help you out. What do you say?" Bush simply grinned, set himself to his task in a more determined manner than ever before, and forced Graney to pop to Mclnnis. Jack was the first to congratulate Joe.
