Cy Williams Has Been Visiting at Goodland.

Fred Williams, of Wadena, Ind., who pastimes for the Chicago Nationals during the summer months in center field, has been visiting at his old home and also at Goodfand for the past few days. Cy, as he is known to fans around the circuit, is a resident of Park Ridge, 111., now and is also an owner of a farm in Wisconsin, where he has been for the past three weeks, superintending stump stump pulling. Cy is a model athlete and is thrifty, and when his batting eye begins to dim he will have enough saved up to keep him from want. He should prove to be as good a fanner as he is a batter, which is saying something. Williams is accredited with being the best outfielder in the National circuit by Fred Mitchell, new manager of the Cubs, and was the leading home run swatter of the older organization during the past season, although he was out of the game for several weeks with an injury. Another report from Goodland states that Karl Crandall, who was recently sold by Indianapolis to Oakland, of the Pacific coast league, has about decided to quit baseball.
