NINE DONORS EQUIP HOSPITAL ROOMS
Furnishings For All Single Rooms In the Jasper County Hospital Provided For. The trustees of the Jasper county hospital are delighted with their success in providing for the furnishing of the rooms. Already the nine single rooms are provided for and we give the names of the donors as they were received by the board: Rensselaer Lodge Knights of Pythias. St. Augustine’s Catholic Church. Mrs. John M. Wasson. Eastern Star and Masons. President H. R. Kurrie. ' Mrs. Leo Wolfe, of Hammond. A. Leopold. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Chapman. Mrs. Alda Parkison.
The furnishings for these rooms will be uniform and will be selected under the supervision of the hospital board assisted by the superintendent, who is now in charge. The expense to each donor "'will be about $125. A committee of the board and the superintendent were in Chicago last week looking over these furnishings and the selection will be made at once. The local furniture dealers are co-operating with the board and with their assistance the very best use of the money available will be made. The interest shown by the people of Rensselaer in the hospital assures the people outside of the city that we are ready and anxious to do our full share in support of this institution. The service this hospital can render to the people of this county will be second to no other institution within its borders.
There is yet much that should be done by the people of this city. We have two three-bed wards. The office is to be furnished, also the kitchen, dining room and laundry. It is the hope of the board that the Moose lodge, which is taking no so much activity in our city, will furnish one of these wards, and the Odd Fellows lodge, possibly the strongest odge financially in the city, will furnish the other. Some other organization or individual could furnish the range for the kitchen. The different societies could ‘hold showers for the dining room and kitchen. We believe the people here will so appreciate the hospital that these matters will be attended to without any urging. The equipment of the operation room is up to the doctors of Rensselaer. The interest and helpfulness they have already rendered the board proves to us that they are ready to do their part. The board has selected as superintendent a lady with qualifications to make the hospital the very greatest service to the people of the eounty. At the same time she was not recommended by a local doctor nor was she acquainted with any of them until she came to this city. She will en-. deavor to so administer the affairs of the hospital that every physician, not only of Rensselaer, but of the entire county, will be pleased to use the hospital for his patients. All doctors will be treated with equal attention and -the superintendent and the board are very anxious to receive their hearty co-operation. The board is made up of the following members: President J. D. Allman, Secretary E. P. Honan, Charles Peck, Frank Lewis and L. H. Hamilton. The members of the board serve without pay and they are giving the hospital a great deal of time and attention and their desire is to make it meet the needs of the people of Jasper county. The taxpayers of the county bwn the building. They will have to provide for its maintenance and every person in the county should be a booster for it. We urge the people of Rensselaer to see that the additional equipment needed is supplied at once. Possibly there is no other way in which we can all do quite so much good as in the support of this institption.
