Mr. Maclsaacs takes the greatest I ride and pleasure im his garden, where grow all kinds t>f fruit and vegetables. On the birthday of Solomon, his only son, Maclsaacs thought to give the lad a treat. “Solly, my boy,” he said, with * a kindly smile, “you vos has by permission to ask all your leetle friends nto der garden, and dey can take prydings except der strawberries." In an hour or two the garden seemed to be overflowing with small boya, and Maclsaacs took a stroll thru the wandering gangs. Almost at once he came across a lad whose hands were full of the prized strawberries and whose face bore suspicious stains. “My tear boy,” remonstrated Maclsaacs, "you must nod dake der strawberries.” “Vy not?” retorted the lad promptly. "I has paid my penny.”
