IMPORTANT NOTICE. By laws of injustice we can not. ask more for ou r goods like the grocer, shoe man, garage, doctor, lawyer, clothier, newspaper, farmer and |other lines of business. Our material and labor has made an average advance of 68 per cent, which compels us to operate at a loss until prices return to "normal conditions, which seem distant; therefore we are compelled to make our collections jn full each month, and to discontinue all service in arrears, as one loss is sufficient. Please settle your account I before December 25, and greatly oblige, Jasper County Telephone Co. High School Boys Begin Basket Ball Practice. The local high school boys begun basket ball practice last week with almost twenty candidates for places on the varsity. A good spirit was manifested and it is hbped a fast, heavy team will develop. With the co-operation of the student body and the fans of the city, a successful season is certain. A good schedule has been formed and whatever support the team gets will be merited. Cold, Snap Continues—Six Below Zero Sunday Night. The cold snap of the padt few days is still unbroken and it looks as if Santa would have real Christmas weather for his travels. The mercury in the government thermometer at St. Joseph’s college Sunday night sank to six below at one stage, which was the coldest registered during the night. Nine below is the coldest we have had so far this winter, but if the present early winter weather is any indication, we are likely to have “ i great deal of zero weather. A gift of the time—photo made by Parker. And just because Santa Claus 1* popular is no reason why other men should wear lambrequins on their chin. The reason women are contented with their shapes is because the thin ones wouldn’t be fat for the world and the fat ones wouldn’t be thin for a million dollars. **■"•>«
