HOPE TO MUSTER OUT GUARD BY XMAS
Officers at FL Harrison See Possibility of Completion Before Holidays Arrive. Every effort is being made by Adjt. Gen. _/rank L. Bridges and officers and clerks of the Third Indiana Regiment to complete all details.incident to mustering out the mpn of the regiment before Christmas. Unusually good progress was' made in that direction Tuesday, when officers and the clerical -force of the regiment again took up the property lists and individual records of the men. At the close of the day officers said there is more than a possibility that their efforts to muster out in time to get home before Christmas day may be realized. Much work, however, must be completed before the soldiers will be at liberty to go to their homes. Reports, delayed since before the regiment was sent to the border last July, must be completed. Equipment of every man and the records complete must be filed before the order to muster out is given. Gen. Bridges, commander ‘> of the Indiana National Guard, and Col. Harry B. Smith, said to be the choice of Governor-elect James F. Goodrich to succeed Bridges, wore guests Monday of Col. Aubrey L. Kuhlman at dinner at Fort Harrison. They met the field officers of the regiment and considerable time was spqnt in discussing the probable effect of the experience on the Texas border on the National Guard of the future; whether the training received will be conducive to a gradual enlistment and filling; of the various units. Owing to the inclement weather, members of the regiment were given four hours V)f drill work under shelter at the barracks. Officers of the various units composing the regiment 'are planning a social program for the period during which the members are awaiting the muster-out order. Arrangements are under way to give two dances within the next ten days, which has met with popular favor at the fort.
