Champion Steer at Chicago Show Brings Big Sura.

California’s Favorite, the grand champion steer of the Intemation’il Stock Show, was sold Thursday for 1 to the Sullivan Packing Co., of Detroit. California’s Favorite weighed 1150 pounds, therefore the price was at the rate of $1.75 a pound. This is the highest price ever paid for steer at an international show, but prices this year are far abovo former prices. For instance, the Purdue grand champion steer in the 1908 show sold at 26 cents a pound, and the highest price paid before this, week was for “Advance,” the Angu? that won first prize in 1900. In the Hereford ring Warren McCray is still winning. However, he is meeting strong competition', which has resulted from his annual sales. Taylor, of Kentucky, one of the big McCray sale buyers, cut in with Juliet and took the female champion ribbon. J. C. Andrew, of West Point, who took the grand champion weather honors, also won in the Shropshire breeding, the highest honors in the ewe class with a yearling ewe champion. John R. Lewis, of this county, had entries in Friday’s show again, but as yet we have not learned what prizes he took. Miss Dudie, junior yearling sow, was entered against everything in the show Friday.
