RENSSELAER LANDS CURTAIN RAISER
Local Team Will Meet Sheridan High At Lafayette On Nov. 25th Before Purdue-Indiana Game. Rensselaer high school will be one of the twb teams in the Purdue-In-diana curtain raiser on November 25. T.:s coveted honor fell to the lot of the local school Monday, through the ciforts of Prof. J. I. Coe. Several schools in this section, all with about equal claims, have been clamoring for the chance to represent northern Indiana at this game against the southern champ, and the local team and backers feel highly elated over the success of Prof. Coe. It is a signal honor to be chosen as one of the two best teams in the state and the red and black should have a large following on the 25th. Until the visit of Prof. Coe Monday to Purdue University there was to have been no curtain raiser. Prof. Coe conversed with Physical Director Cutts, of the university, and Student Athletic Director Webb, and an agreement was met whereby the curtainraiser could be played as scheduled. Indiana comes to Lafayette and owing to the early return of their train the game between the university teams has to be called at 2:00 o’clock, which means that no time could be had for a curtain raiser as a crosscountry run was scheduled for 1:00 o'clock. Prof. Coe, however, finally prevailed upon Messrs. Cutts and Webb to schedule the curtain raiser at 10 o’clock in the morning, which they decided to do. Sheridan, who will be the opponent of the locals in this game, comes with 1 the reputation of oeing the cream of the southern schools and Rensselaer will have to show a lot of football ca be returned the victor on this day. Morocco high school has been claiming the state championship and it is probable that they wifi put up a dreadful wail, when the result is announced. However, they are to be given the chance of meeting the locals on Thanksgiving if they care to do so, and then it may be seen whether they are of championship calibre or not.
