Aviator Victor Carlstrom, flyingin a Ciirtiss-200 horsepower biplanf and carrying several bags of United States mail in a record breaking flight between .Chicago and New_ York City, delivered his pouches ro a representative of the New York postoffice at 8:55 a. m., eastern time. Actual flying time, Chicago to New York, 8 hours, 24 minutes; a distance of nearly 1,000 miles. Previous record by Harry Atwood in 1911, 18 hours actual flying time, covered a period of several days.
