FRENCH TO ADOPT BASEBALL
McGraw Says Outbreak of War Prevented Taking Up of Our GameAre Natural Sportsmen. “Had it not been for the outbreak of the war,” said John McGraw recently, “I believe the French people would have taken up baseball very strongly. The citizens in Paris were quite enthusiastic when we visited that city on the trip around the world, and we would have drawn an immense throng 1 but for a cold, heavy rain which fell all that day. —— “It would not be surprising to me to see France adopt the game at the close of the hostilities, as they flire great natural sportsmen. Look at themanner in which they took to the short time In which they produced good fighters of their own.”
