Where Is Grub Street?

“Grub street, 1 ’ is nowadays a name for the general state of financial distress in which writers without the necessary “cheek”—usually find themselves. In the reign of George 111 Grub street was the Home of those unfortunates who tempted fortune by writing histories and dictionaries and engaged in literary hackwork of all sorts. It is known now as Milton street, but the Grub streets o: k ‘ today may exist wherever there is pen, ink and paper.
