Fire Company Called to John Wiseman Residence Monday.
The fire company was called to the John Wiseman residence on Vine street'in the northern part of the city near the railroad tracks, Monday evening. The house caught on fire by a spark falling from the chimney onto the roof. The fire company made a splendid run and their prompt work saved the house from complete destruction. The roof was badly damaged and some household effects were also destroyed. The total loss, however, will not exceed SIOO. The loss was covered by insurance. The fire plug number blown was 68 and it should have been 73. Plub 68 is three blocks distant from 73, the closest hydrant to the Wiseman residence. Over one thousand feet, of hose had to be laid out to reach the burning house. Chief Montgomery requests in the future that people should for the company’s interests as well as their own, be careful in making their report to the central office and should see that’the hydrant number on their telephone cards corresponds with the nearfest hydrant, and that they should also give the name'of the resident.
Mrs. R. B. Harris returned today from Indianapolis, where she visited her daughter and family for about two weeks. s
