City Council Proceedings.
The city council met in regular session Monday evening, Sept. 11, and the following business was transacted: r The following amounts were levied for the taxes for 1916 on each SIOO of the assessed valuation: Road Fund 40c; coiporation fund. 64c; public library fund 10c; public parks lc; special addition for school house bonds 7c; Bomtrager ditch 3c; for each poll SI.OO. No levy was made for the electric light and water funds, these being thrown into the corporation fund. The total levy is the same as last year. Application was made by Ed Duvall for electrician’3 license. On. motion the license was ordered issued upon filing of bond to approval of mayor. Petition of Clara Goetz et al to exhume bodies in Weston cemetery. On motion the prayer of the petitioners was granted subject to approval of the trustees of Weston cemetery. The report of the finance committee was read and the claims allowed. Ordinance 174 was passed to the third reading. In matter of improvement of Washington avenue, engineer files plans and specifications, which are adopted. Resolution No. 138 was introduced and real and rules were suspended x and same put on its passage. Wood, Tobias, Warner and Kresler were favorable. Declared adopted. This -resolution provided for the improvement of the street on College avenue along the Phillips addition, county to pay for improvement of street 15 feet wide. A petition of the property owners facing street asked for a twenty-five foot street, and prayer of the petitioners was granted, five feet additional on both sides to be improved at the cost of the property owners. Clerk was ordered to publish notice and notify property ownersT Council will hear remonstrances on October 9th, 1916. City attorney on motion was instructed to give notice of sale of bam on the lot of Ralph Fendig, purchased by city, Saturday, September 16th. The petition.of Monroe Carr et al for street light on Washington street was granted. City -engineer on motion instructed to prepare plans and specifications for sidewalk in front of Riley Snyder lot on Rachel street. The usual number of claims were allowed.
