Mrs. Ed Oliver, “Onion Queen,” Saves Muncie School.

The Chicago Journal of Thursday contained an article on Mrs. Marguerite Warren Springer, recently married to Edward Oliver, telling of her saving a Muncie school througn financial aid. The Journal’s article follows: “Muncie Normal School, property of Mrs. Marguerite Warren Springer Oliver, of Chicago, the ‘Onion Queen,’ has been saved. “Receivership proceedings, instituted by seven instructors in the school who claimed $15,000 back salary, probably will •be dropped as a result of Mrs. Springer-Oliver’s attempt to meet- the alleged indebtedness. The teachers asserted that they received checks from Mrs. Oliver which for some reason or other were returned by the Muncie banks. They sought redress- in the courts, complaining of the seeming indifference of the school head. “Since her marriage to Ed Oliver, the ‘Onion King,’ however, Mrs. Oliver’s interest in the school has returned. She has deposited SII,OOO in the I Continental and Commercial Bank of Chicago to meet outstanding salary checks and has announced her intention of keeping the school open.”
