LARGEST ENROLLMENT IN SCHOOL HISTORY
Rensselaer Public Schools Have Total Enrollment of 581—High School Has 207. The largest school enrollment in the history of the Rensselaer public schools is the statement that has been made by Superintendent C. R. Dean. The grade pupils total 374, and the high school has an enrollment of 207, which is about twenty more than has ever been recorded m the high school. There are an unusually Jargc. number of freshmen and sophomores' this year and the junior class is also above the average. Tne senior class, however, is quite a ways below standard this year in enrollment, there being only twenty-four registered to date, which will make an exceedingly small graduating class next spring. Superintendent Dean states that there are new pupils reporting every day and that the number will probably be considerably larger later on. This first week of school has been given mainly to the arranging of the classes and used as a preparatory week, and by next week the schools will be in shape to start work in earnest. Athletics are on the boom this year, due to the fact *hat so much really good available timber is at hand, and all in all the school year of 1916-17 points to a mighty prosperous year. The enrollment of the grade scnools and high school is as follows: Ist grade 50 2nd grade 51; 3rd grade 32; 4th grade 51; sth grade 55; 6th grade 50; 7th grade 39; Bth grade 46.
