John Warne, son of Everett Warne, the drayman, fined Wednesday by Squire Dean, on an „ssault and battery charge preferred by a Mr. Vaughn, working at B. J. Jarrette s store. It seems that the altercation took place between the two young men while unloading some fi-Jght at the Jarrette store. Tlie fine and costs amounted to about SB, which was paid by the defendant. The New York Evening Sun finds this explanation: At Princeton Mr. Wilson became accustomed to conferring degrees upon D. D.’s. At the White House he continued in practice by conferring office upon deserving democrats. The next time a democratic spellbinder comes your way ask him why it is that he blames the European war for the high cost of living and refuses to credit the European war for the gigantic increase in our export trade. Senator Jim Ham Lewis intimate o that Wilson was about to recognize Villa when the wily bandit lost his grip on the tail feathers of the Mexican eagle. ’Tis better to have loved and lost than never to nave loved at all.” —— There is a significance in the primary vote everywhere this yea®. The republican totals are very much greater than the democratic totals. Even so will it be on election day.
