Ross Porter, who went to New York state some time ago to take over a farm he had contracted for, was disappointed in not getting the place, as he found another agent had sold the farm to another party before he purchased it, and he did not get the. farm. But he has been very fortunate. He went to work on a big stock farm at Randolph, owned by the Millionaire Charles Dow. The farm was managed by Dow’s son, Howard. The latter recently joined the German army unknown to his father, and when the latter learned of his enlistment he offered SIO,OOO for his release, which was refused. Ross has now been made manager of the farm at good wages, and he. will no doubt make good. The farm is an immensh affair and is mainly devoted to the raising of fine stock, but is farmed on an extensive scale. The buildings in which the employes live are as fine as any residence in Rensselaer, Ross writes, and the one he occupies has three bath-rooms, which will give some idea of its size. Faye Clark was working on the same farm but has returned to Rensselaer. Ross has no idea of returning but will remain there and work for Mr. Dow. J. E. Myers and son and Harry Brawn, of Kniman, were Rensselaer visitors today. Mr. Myers reports that the crop prospects in that section are excellent and especially the Wheat. _ _
