Mrs. E. Sinith, of Fair Oaks, was in town on business yesterday. Miss Della Irwin, of Brook, who has been visiting her cousin, .Schuyler C. Irwin and family, went to Frankfort today to visit friends. Quarantine is established on the home of Charles Shinn, where his 9 months old soh developed a. mild case of infahtile paralysis. This case is at Kendallville, the first one in Noble county. Mrs. Andy Gangloff, who 1 has been visiting her mother, Mrs. M. V. Hanell, at Detroit, Mich., for a few days, returned yesterday accompanied by her mother, who will visit them for a time. Mrs. E. D. Rhoades returned from a two weeks’ visit with her daughter, Mrs. C. A. Radcliff, at Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Radcliff and children accompanied her here and will visit for about two weeks. August R. Shultz, of Union town' ship, lost twelve fine steers, eight of which were coming 3-year-olds, by lightning which struck the wire fence on the pasture they'were in recently. The loss is estimated at S9OO, partly covered by S4OO insurance. Instructions have been issued to the deputy fish and game commissioners of the slate to ascertain from clerks of circut courts of counties they visit whether the number of licenses to hunt and fish obtained this year is as large as in the past.
iMr. and Mrs. John' Healy and children, Marie and Johnnie, went to South Haven, Mich., today, where they will visit Mtrs. Healy’s sister, Mrs. S. .E. Overton and family. Mr. Healy will return Monday, but Mrs. Healy and the children, will re,maia for a longer visit. The champion ice cream eater hails from Alexandria, as far as all available records of ice cream eating show. Lon Markle, a farmer, walked into a drug store at Alexandria and remarked that he believed it would be nothing unusual for him to eat ten dishes of ice cream. Then he sat down and ate 34 dishes of ice cream of the usual size. After puzzling several days over a $35 shortage in his cash register, E. E. StollabOwer, a bicycle and motorcycle merchant at Columbus, found a pet squirrel was the cause • of the shortage. He discovered the little animal had made itself a bed of the money, which was in bills. The squ’rrel is believed to have registere ’ up more money by opening the reg ster vhen it was playing with the keys.
