GREAT PREPAREDNESS PARADE IN CHICAGO
Over 130,000 Men, Women apd Children of AH Nationalities Took Part in Parade. The (great Chicago preparedness parade, to which the entire city devoted itself Saturday, began promptly a 9 o’clock in the morning and lasted for 11 hours and 45 minutes, over 130,000 men, 'women and children of all nationalities taking part. In the first 12*minutes after the parade began 2,032 tabulation clerk® marching sixteen abreast passed the reviewing stand. Two thousand, five hundren policemen (were engaged in keeping the line of march and handling the crowds. The parade itself was managed from a central telephone office in direct connection witih 120 sub-stations. Thus General E. C. Young, I.'N. G., grand marshal, through G'enerial Sheldon, his aide, was able at all times to maneuver the various great divisions. Two Indiana National Guard companies from the northern part of this state took part in the parade. One of the companies was Co. L, of the 3rd regiment, from Valparaiso. The other was 00. B, of the second separate battalion, from Laporte. Every person in the parade carried an American flag. Thousands of 'people were in the city to witness the great event. ■ -
