More Than 1,500 Players Have Gone to Fight in Trenches on the - Continent. London. —There are now 1,500 actors serving with the British forces, it-was announced at a recent dinner in their honor given by members of the theatrical profession. Lord Derby, who raised England’s big volunteer army, paid the members of the profession a compliment for the assistance they had given in his recruiting campaign when be said: “Nobody knows better than I do how much recruiting owes to the dramatic-and variety professions. They have always been ready to give their services.”
