L. W. Nelley, of Lafayette, was in town on business, Wednesday. Mrs. C. M. Rice was a visitor at Rensselaer Wednesday. Joe Daughetee, of North Dakota, visited friends here this week. Paul Barnes, of Monticello,- was here on business Monday evening last. Jas. Harmon, of Francesville, was in town Tuesday and Wednesday. Jas. Nowels, of Rensselaer, was visiting his son on the Lawler jranch several days this week. Mr. Ball, df South Bend, a brother of the late Chas. R. Ball, came Monday morning. Rev. McKenzie, of Lafayette, presiding elder, visited here over Sunday with I. N. Best and family. The case of State vs. Reuben Gundy and Dr. C. M. Rice was venued from Newton to Jasper county. Mrs. J. W. Cropks and son, Lardner, had charge of the drug store last week while J. W. was away. J. W. Crooks made a business trip last Wednesday to Indianapolis>>Fishers, Stockwell and Lafayette, returning Saturday. Pearl Best, Clara Boyle and District Superintendent McKenzie went to Creston Sunday to attend Methodist church services. Mrs. Lucy Ritnour, of Independence, came last Friday on account of the. serious illness of her father, the late Chas. R. Ball. Mrs. Lucy Ritenour, of Independence, Ind., came Monday on receipt of tpipgram annmincing the dcath of her father, C. R. Ball. L. N. Ball, of North Liberty, Ind., returned Monday to help with the funeral arrangements of his brother, C. R. Ball. He had been at his bedside ( a few days before his death . - z-
