Benton County Young Man Best Athlete at Notre Dame.
The latest athletic horor to come to Emmett G. Keefe, of Raub, a Benton county boy who is winning a great reputation as an athlete at Notre Dame university, is to be awarded the Mayr prize for being the most valuable member of the wonderful Notre Dame football teajn of last fall. Keefe, who is in line to win three monograms at Notre Dame this vear, a feat rarely ever before accomplished at that school, is universally acknowledged to be one of the best all around athletes at Notre Dame as well as one of the best linemen that ever played on a gold and blue team. He is also a crack basketball player and a member of the varsity team in both that and track. It is as a football player, however, that Keefe is best known. During his three years on the Notre Dame team he has won the reputation of being one of the best linemen.on the team and with Captain Fitzgerald, Notre Dame’3 other all-American guard, undoubtedly forms one of the greatest pair of guards that ever crossed the gridiron. Keefe will finish his course in eleitrical engineering this year. He is the son of William Keefe, of Raub.
