BILLY WEISS FOUND GUILTY AND FINED
Wheatfield Man Who Tried to Dodge Officers Discovered Going After Bucket of Coal. ■■ ■ ■■■ ■- ■ * Billy Weiss, the owner of a soft drink emporium at Wheatfield, and of whom mention was made in this paper in connection with the arrests made at that place for drunkenness, was discovered Friday night by Town Marshal ’ Johnson and arrested. Billy has been arrested on several previous occasions and his been brought to Rensselaer several times in the. past few years. An affidavit charging intoxication had been placed in the hands of Squire Van Doozer. Weiss disappeared upon learnipg that he was to be arrested and a search disclosed the fact that his place of business was closed and it was taken for granted that he had left Wheatfield, perhaps for good. Weiss, how.ever, had no intention of leaving, and. was found barricaded in has home Friday night by Town Marshall He had been in hiding following the' -arrests of others. Evidently Billy's fire was getting low, for he ventured out into the open long enough to get a bucket of coal and was discovered. Marshal Johnson was notified and • Weiss was placed under arrest and arraigned before Squire VanDoozer, and pleaded. guilty to drunkenness. He was fined $25 and costs, totaling $33 in air. George Hoehn, the butcher, and John Erwin, also residents of Wheatfield, who were charged with intoxication, paid their fines.
