Jordan Township Held a Spelling Contest Friday The six schools of Jordan township held a spelling match at Never Fail school house Friday afternoon, Feb. 18. The contestants were all pupils above the third grade. About fifty children spelled, and all manifested a great interest. The prize, a beautiful banner bearing the words “Jordan Township Spelling Contest,” was won by Miss Bernice Kessinger, an Bth grade pupil of Egypt. This banner will be kept by the Egypt school until it is won from her in another spelling match. Dorothy Shumaker, of Union, was a close second. Ben B. Miller, of Mt, Ayr, went to Windfall, today, where his son, Rudolph, is running general store. Tom Stein and Misses Mary and Anna Stein, of near Remington, went to Orland, IIL, today for a two weeks’ visit with relatives. Miss Emma Slabaugh, of Holmes county, Ohio, who has been visiting relatives at Mt. Ayr for the past two weeks, went to Howard county, Ind.,, today, to visit other relatives.
