Rev. F. W. Backemeyer Resigns Monticello Pastorate. Rev. F. W. Backemeyer, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Monticello, has tendered his resignation to take effect May Ist. He goes to the Memorial church in the northwest part of Indianapolis at a greatly increase 1 salary. He had been pastor of the Monticello church only a little more than a years Mr. and Mrs. Burlie Harrod, who have been living .west of town, will leave tomorrow for Colorado Springs for Mrs. Harrod’s health. —It—is the opinion'of her physician that she has the early stages of tuberculosis and a hurried climatic change was decided on. It is hoped that the change results in complete restoration of her health. Mrs. Harrod is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris. Morganegg. The Republican was in error in stating that the prohibitionists could not get a ticket “for the county because they had failed to have their candidates filed for the primary. In minority parties where less than ten per cent of the total vote was case at the last election a ticket can be prodded by petition or conventionwithin thirty days of the election. The prohibitionists did not nominate Monday as advertsed but at the meeting that evening it was agreed to hold a county convention in July. Nathan Eldridge and Sam Wiles, 'of Barkley township, and Mrs. John T. Culp, of Rensselaer, went to Monon today to attend the funeral of Mrs. Worley Myers, who died Saturday afternoon at her home near Monon of Pneumonia. Mrs. Myers_jyas formerly Miss Melva Long and was for some time before her marriage a teacher iii the Monon schools. Injuries suffered in an automobile wreck a year ago are thought to have hastened her death. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Long, of Monon.
