Evening Republican, Volume 20, Number 31, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 5 February 1916 — Doubtful If Marriage Is Outcome of Girl’s Charge. [ARTICLE]
Doubtful If Marriage Is Outcome of Girl’s Charge.
Leap year is not a guarantee of a husband even if the girl who wants one sends a constable to get him and there seems some doubt whether the case mentioned Friday results in a wedding or is settled in some other way. The girl in the case is Gladys Hough, of Gillam township, and the man she would have to father her offspringis James Hullihan, who is now in jail. He is said to rebel somewhat against becoming an involuntary leap year husband and the girl and her parents are supposed to reach town some time this afternoon and negotiate for some terms of settlement. The girl’s age is said to be less than sixteen years.
