John O’Connor, who has a remarkable memory and keeps all items of importance in his head for years, was in the office this morning and gave us the following interesting weather information for February 3rd of some former years: Feb. 3, 1875, 32 degrees below zero, no snow. Feb. 3, 1883, the date of the big sleet, which is remembered by all of the older inhabitants. The sleet was general throughout this section of the country and did much damage.
