Robins Are Here and Spring Will Be After Awhile.
He is unwise who sheds his heavy underwear when the first robin is sighted. Rev. Chas. W. Postill saw a robin about four weeks ago near the Snedeker grocery store on North Main street. The Republican was informed ,and accepted _Charley’s statement without question but neglected at the time to make mention of the fact. During the very cold and stormy days the first of this week a robin made its appearance at’ the home of Granville Aldrich on West Clark street and it was there seen by Thorsten Otterberg and others. Mr. Aldrich fed it bread crumbs and the red breast made its home there and is probably there yet. A few days like this, Friday, and boys would appear with sacks of marbles and start their games of “keeps” but even that would not justify a fellow in getting anxious about his woolens and it would be a wise decision not to accept any omen this side of May Ist for the annual elimination of the heavies for the bvd’s.
