ROBINSON FILES HIS DECLARATION
Candidate For G. O. P. For U. iS. .Senator Compiles W|th New Primary Election Law. Indianapolis, Dec. 14.—Arthur R. RotinWon, of Indianapolis, filed with the secretar yof state ‘his declaration df becoming a candidate for the republic'am nomination for U. -S. senator late today. Mr. Robinson is the first candsdate to file declaration of candidacy as provided for by the new primary election law. Accompanying Robinson’s declaration was a petition signed by nearly 800 voters of Marton county, asking that his name be placed on the ballot, for the .primary on March 7. The election law requires 500 names to such a petition. Under the new primary law a candidate for U. 6. senator is required to ,pay a fee of 4100, the amount bein r based on the annual salary of the office, blit a recent decision of the Floyd county»ciitcuit court held that the fee provision of the Taw is invalid. The point will be esettled finally by the rtate supreme court. Mr. Robinson tendered the treasurer of state a check for SIOO. The treasurer declined to receive the check, but pre'pahed a written acknowledgment of fts tender. The check wiTl be held by the secretary of rtate pending a decision of the supreme court.
