Victor Babcock, who lives on the Harm of his father, Frank Jl Babcock, in west Carpenter township, was operated on for appendicitis at the Heuro tin hospital in Chicago Monday am is getting along very nicely and will be able to return home the first of the week. He had suffered several attacks of appendicitis and the operation wws just in time as the appendix was beginning to decompose. Frank .Simonin, who lives just across the Newton county line, about three miles from the Babcock farm, had an attack of appendicitis the same day that was so severe a surgeon was called from the city and the operation performed at his home. Three members of the board of directors and Secretary Dean and Treasurer Thompson went to Goodland yesterday evening, where Secretary Kilgore sad other officers of the Goodland Building and Loan Association very kindly went over the questions involved in the building anti loan business. They were shown through the books, the system od keeping records and questions that were puzzling the local by-laws committee were taken up. Much benefit was derived from tlhe visit and the local association should profit very much by the very generous aid furnished by the Goodland men, who have been associated with that association for the past twenty-one years. It has an extensive business, with loans in many cities and towns, aggregating about $200,000. Box Social.
