COLLEGE STUDENTS PLAY JULIUS CAESAR
Columbian Literary Society to Inaugurate Beautiful Auditorium With Shakespeare Performance. The beautiful new auditorium in I the gymnasium building at St. JosI eph’s college will be used tonight for the first thne, when the Columbian Literaary Society, composed of ...students at the college, will present Julius Caesar. Quite a number are gathering from other places to visit the students and to attend the play. The auditorium and the large stage are equal in every detail to many of the small city theatres, while in respect to stage settings and scenery there are few better any place. The auditorium will seat 550 in opera chairs on the main floor, while the balcony will seat a large number more. The stage opening is 34 feet in width and the stage has a depth of 28 feeit. It is 68 feet across the stage from wall to wall.
The floor of the auditorium is concrete, graduated slightly for rear elevation. The aisles are made noiseless as also are the treads on the stairs. Four large candelabras furnish the lights. The center one has 24 Mazda globes and the others each have twelve* The footlights on the Stage are three shades. The orchestra pit is large and accommodates all members of the excellent college orchestra. Five complete sets of stage scenery have been installed. Th students axe famous for their dramatic ability and the presentation of Julius Caesar will doubtless be a great success and none should miss it who enjoy Shakespearean performances.
