Premoter Brown Says That Part of Railroad is Financed.

Lafayette Courier. 0. L. Brown, general manager of the Lafayette and Northwestern Railroad company, announced today that work in connection with the new interurban line was progressing and that the company had financed the first half of the line through a New York bank. The right of way is being secured now and the promoters expect to put their force of salesmen at work within the next few days. The Central States company nas contracted to underwrite and sell the preferred stock. The change of the route north from West Lafayette through Octagon, is according to H. IS. Shellhouse, chief engineer for the proposed line, meeting with approval ay the citizens in the north part of Wabash township and this change shortens the route about three miles. A strong effort is being made to comcomplete all preliminaries in time to aegin construction early in the spring. The M. A. Talbert Construction company has the contract for building the ine, which will run from Lafayette to Kankakee, 111. The company has offices in the Sharp building and G. M. Sewell is superintendent of construction.
