Curndck returned home this morning from Evansville, where he was called Wednesday by the serious sickness of his sister. He left her slightly improved. Hamilton & Kellner sell the famous Johnston com binder. ' Virgil E. Denniston, under date of -Sept. Ist, wrote to The Republican from Bozeman, Mont., where he is working in a barbershop. He likes that country and climate and expects to remain there all winter. He asks to be remembered to all his friends here..

Porter returned last night on the 1:3 Strain from their visit to the northwest. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hammond, of Goats, Kans., former residents of this county, accompanied them home. They had together visited in Nebraska and South Dakota. They visited at Mitchell and Mt. Vernon, S. Dak., with Bruce Porter and other former residents of this vicinity. At Haigler, Dundy county, Neb., they virited Cal -Paris and family and at Wilsonville, tFuTnas county, they visited Dr. Frank Johnson and other members of the Johnson family, seeing John Kresler and wife, who went to Nebraska to visit the same families Monday of this week. They also visited Rev. •Vaughn Woodworth and family at South Omaha. Through mudh of lowa they reported corn very poor, but through Illinois it was much better. In South Dakota the small grain was good hut the com was very hate, being just in the roarting ear Stage and apparently the cfrdst will catch much of it. They had a very enjoyable trip. Mr. and Mrs. Hammond will visit relatives and old friends here for some time.
