JAMISON EVIDENTLY CARRIED A REVOLVER
Bat Campbell Found One In Garden Through Which He Passed When Making Getaway. Evidently Louis Jamison, the Milroy township man who escaped from Officer Childers Saturday night, Aug. 28th, was aimed and prepared to defend himself in case it was necessary to do so> at the time of his arrest. Bert Campbell, who works for Hamilton A Kellner, found a 32-caliber revolver with five bullets in it, in a ■garden in rear of the Ben Oglesby property, and this was in the line of Jamison’s flight when Officer Childers was firing *at him. Whether Jamison had accidentally dropped it or whether he had thrown it away is not known. Of course, there is a chance that it was not even his, but this is not probable, for the circumstantial evidence is strong. The bicycle which John Jenkenson had stolen from his home in the same block that night, was found by its owner in the road near Jamison's farm home after it was advertised in The Republican. ■Dr. Hemphill and Trustee Wood went to the Sharon neighborhood Friday* afternoon and after stopping at the home of Charley Slaughter, where Mrs. Jamison was, called at the Jamison home. Jamison was asleep and Dr. Hemphill soon conyinced hi after he had awakened that he was there as a friend and Jamison ■bowed Mm his wound. A bullet had struck him below the ".nkle of one foot and was embedded in the foot. The foot was somewhat inflamed but Dr. Hephill thinks it will get all right. He stated that they had some money and provisions and did not want any aid from the trustee.

EVERY HOME NEEDS A FAITHFUL COUGH AND COLD REMEDY When the seasons Change and colds appear—when you first detect a cold after sitting next to one who has sneezed, then it is that a tried and tested remedy should be faihfully used. “I never wrote a testimonial before, but, I know positively that for myself and family, Dr. King’s New Discovery is the best cough remedy we ever used and we have tried them all.” 50c and SI.OO. (1) Not much more has been learned "about the arrest by federal authorities of Richard Williams, of near Vir•gie. Williams was helping thrash at the home of Dick Gasoway and when the United States deputy marshal arrested him informed the men with whom he was working that he (would be back the next day. rt was understood by some that he was arrested on a charge of forgery. He is about 70 years of age and had been in Oklahoma for some time prior to a few weeks ago. A WONDERFUL ANTISEPTIC Germs and infection aggravate ailments and retard healing. Ibis neutralizes infection and gives nature assistance by overcoming congestion and gives a chance for the free and normal flow of the blood. Sloan’s Liniment is an emergency doctor and should be kept constantly on hand. 25c, 50c. The SI.OO size contains six times as much as the 25c. (1) Bernard B. Shively, of Marion, late progressive Candidate for congress, has gone back to the party of Ms fathers, the democrat party, and warns all other progressives to keep their weather eye upon the bad republican party. Mr. Shively’s return to the democratic party is hailed with much joy and acclaim by the democratic press. It’s great stuff, and points to a democratic victory next year, so they reiterate. Srange enough, isn’t it, when a progressive returns to the republican party this same democratic press looks wise, then sad and solemnly warns all progressives that it is their sacred duty to stand by their party and principles for the good of the country. It’s utter lack of political consistency puts the democratic press of the country in an unenviable light.

AMERICANS AND MEX. FIGHT ACROSS BORDER
Nearly a Hundred Shots Fired at ,U. S. Army Aeroplane, and Soldiers Are Also Attacked. Mexicans on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande fired nearly a hundred shots at an American aeroplane flying over -Brownsville, and then their gun's against a squad of American soldiers on guard at the Brownsville electric light plant. When the firing started the soldiers got behind shelter and returned the fire. There were no casualties. This was the second time within two days that a U. S. army aeroplane was fired upon.

TEN MORE BODIES ARE FOUND IN F-4
Remains of the Victims,Were Crowded Together in Engine Room— Suggests New Theory. Ten more bodies were found Friday in the hull of the United States submarine F-4. They were crowded together in the engine room where a hole w'as cut through the steel plates to effect an entrance. One body was identified. Members of the naval board of inquiry declined to discuss the question of whether the finding of so many bodies in the compartment indicated the nature of the accident which caused the vessel to sink in Honolulu bay on March 25? th, with 22 officers •and men on board. It was suggested •by some of those working on the submarine that an explosion elsewhere in the vessel caused the men to seek refuge in the engine room. -So far 13 bodies have been taken from the hold of the submarine. Others, in a fragmentary state and badly decomposed, have been located, covered with wreckage of the interior.

Fostmtster-Geneiral Burleson will ask for $4,000,000 less to run the rural routes next year than the present year. He expects to accomplish it by lengthening the routes and requiring carriers to use automobiles, also to provide for an increase of SIOO per year in salaries of carriers. If this is accomplished it will be done by reducing the number of carriers. In Tippecanoe county the plan to lengthen routes is being tried out. The republican has believed for a long time that routes should he increased in length to fifty miles, the carriers serving twice as many patrons as they did on the old horse routes. The barrier’s job is somewhat of a snap When it permits the carrier to get home at 11 o’clock and>have no duties the balance of the day. A better way would be to pay more, extend the routes thus serve many more people. There would not be very many winter days when the routes could not be carried and provision could be made during such cases.
