Kankakee Valley Review. Carl Guthorl& and Lewis Helscher, of Knlm&n, were in town Sunday. Dr. Hansen, of Rensselaer, was a business visitor here Sunday. Happy John Jensen came down from Chicago to look after his farm interests. Mrs. J. T. Bess returned Tuesday from her visit with relatives in Illinois. W. T. Right and Jelta J. Mulder were buisness visitors at Lowell Wednesday. Mrs. Kepperling and children, of Thayer, visited her sister, Mrs. Fred Fuller, Tuesday. Mrs. R. Douna and son, Samuel, and daughter, Johanna, are visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Walstra. Andy Smith, formerly of this place, and for the past live years in Oregon, returned here this weeK. The Mulder family visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Denßesten and the family of John Bushman in Jasper county. Mrs. A 1 Clark and daughter, and sister, Clara, visited here Tuesday afternoon. The family will move here in a few days from Thayer. L. S. Cook, wife and sons, Arthur and DeWitte, M. A. Atherton, wife and daughter, Lusy, and F. H. Harness, of Momence, visited Sunday on the farm with Mrs. Lida Conger. Leo Jabczynski, wife and six children returned to their home in Chicago Monday after several weeks’ visit with Frank Jabczynski and family. Mrs. Henry Roorda and daughters, Catherine and Mable, left for their home in Chicago Wednesday. Susie Dinema and son, Duke, accompanied them for a week’s visit. The Newton county teacher’s institute will be held at the M. E. church, Kentland, August 30 to Sept. 3, 1915, beginning at 10:30 o’clock a. m., on Monday. The county institute is an essential part of the great school systtm of Indiana. All teachers are requested to attend.—W. O. Schanlaub, County Superintendent. Mr. and Mrs. D. K. Frye and daughter, Flora, and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hickman autoed Sunday to Lacrosse to vish Mrs H. Baxter. They did justice to a bountiful dinner that awaited thea. Carl Jensen and family spent the day with them. Crops are looking fine in that part of the country. The same officers and soldiers who were here last summer went into camp Tuesday afternoon on their way from Ft. Sheridan to Ft. Benjamin Harriosn, near Indianapolis. In the evening while off duty they sang songs on the street and visited with the town people. If deportment counts for any thing they are a lot of good fellows and a credit to the army. The M. E. Sunday school held a picnic last Sunday following church services. A dinner was served by the Reds to the Blues, as a result of a contest between two organizations of the school who were called the Reds and the Blues, and the ones who secured the most members to the school wert to be given a dinner by the others. The Blues won and were treated fine by the Reds. Many were in attendance. Mrs. Harry Newman is spending today with relatives at Parr.
