Carroll County Farmer Charged With Forgery.
John Gushwa, a Carroll county farmer, surrendered to Sheriff Popejay of Delphi last week to answer a charge of forgery. Gushwa bought two valuable stallions of J. Crouch & Sons, of Lafayette. He gave notes aggregating $3,400 for them and when one of the notes came due he turned over other notes which he said were sale notes. When these became due they proved to be bungling forgeries. Then other forgeries showed up and at this time the total of forged paper is said to total near SIO,OOO. Louie Muster, Charles Kessinger, Will Coen, Julius Huff and families autoed to Valparaiso Sunday morning to spend the day with Misses Ada Huff and Esther Wiseman, who are attending normal school there. Miss Minnie Kessinger remained for a few days’ visit with the girls.
