Proceedings of City Council At Their Regular Meeting.
All members of the city council were present at the regular meeting Monday exening except Councilman Warner, who was in Chicago. In the mattes of the petition of B. Forsythe et al for a sewer on Vine and Walnut streets, the engineer was 'instructed to make a preliminary .report showing the elevations, lines and levels, sizes of sewers, with the estimates of costs on the Makemself and Walnut and Elm street routes. In the matter of the vacation of Elm street and Sumner street the council fixed the benefits to property affected and fixed August 23rd for hearing remonstrances and the clerk was instructed to give notice according to law. The preliminary assessments for the oiling of streets were fixed and August 23rd was set for hearing remonstrances. The clerk was directed to readvertise for bids for the construction of the alley through Block 9, contract to be let August 23rd. The fire works ordinance was passed. The superintendent of the light plant was instructed to install a street light on Washington avenue at the corner of the Clouse property. The city treasurer’s report shows the following funds on hand: Library $800.09; electric light $5,488.51; road $1,266.60; corporation $432.76; water $6,456.21; public park $630.70; sprinkling $60.25; total of all funds, $14,344.07. The cemetery treasurer filed a report showing funds on hand to the amount of $283.01. The usual number of bills were allowed.
