Father of Mrs. R. P. Bejamin Died at Wabash Sanitarium.
Benjamin F. Magee died Saturday morning at 8 o’clock at St. Elizabeth hospital at Lafayette, from bright’s disease. He had been in poor health for more than a year. He spent Jwo months at the Wabash Valley sanitarium and two weeks ago was taken to the hospital. He was 82 years old, and was bbm in Warren county. -He spent sixty years of his life in Tippecanoe county, and was one of the ■best known farmers in that section. He retire*a number of years ago and has been making his home in Otterbein since that time. He served three years and eight months with Wilder’s brigade as a sergeant during the civil war and had an excellent record. He was married to Hannah Chenowith in 1859. She died April 6, 1913. Deceased was a member of the G. A. R. He was also a member of the Otterbein Methodist church and was a devout Christian and active in all church work up until the time of his last illness. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. R. P. Benjamin, of this city, and one son, Charels S. Magee, of Otterbein. The funeral was conducted from the Otterbein Methodist church and the G. A. R. had charge of the services. The death of Mr. Magee is a distinct shock to hir host of friends throughout Tippecanoe and adjoining counties. He was a man of sterling character, ambitious and successful in life. The funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o’clock.
