Jerry Healy left today for Colorado Springs for a month's sojourn. 4. Miss Lillian Diener came from Chicago today to visit with Mrs. Jerry Healy. W. C. Rose, of Hanging Grove township, made a trip to the Chicago stockyards today. Mrs. F. A. Turfler and sons, Francis and Robert, went to Chicago today for a brief stay. D. D. Gleason, Trustee Fairchild and William Wells, of DeMotte, made a trip to Rensselaer today. Herbert Crowder returned this morning from a visit since Friday with relatives at Rossville. J. H. Thomas returned to Chicago today after spending several days with Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Holden. Mr. and Mrs. Seldon Grant, of Chestnut, 111., are visiting his father, Shelby Grant and other relatives. ■ Mrs. F. pTAbbott, of Goshen, came this morning for a visit of several days with Mrs. F B. Learning. Delbert A. Graham, of Wolcott, came today to visit for a few days with his aunts, Mrs. Hagins and Mrs. Powers. Howard Abbott, of Indiana Harbor, is visiting his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Switser, of Barkley township. Miss Florence Jacks went to Lafayette this morning to enter Lafayette Business College to take a commercial coufte. „

Bott spent Sunday in Star City with the lady who raised him and whose birthday occurs on July 4th. He returned home via Winamac. Mrs. T. S. McCormick returned to Kirkpatrick, Ind, today, after visiting John Foresman and other relatives at Brook snice Saturday. Miss Ara Griswold, who is attending Chicago University this summer, was home from Saturday until today, visiting her parents east of Remington. Just received another car Monogram flour. Burris, of Delphi, where he is the manager of the Jaques Packing Co., came today to visit his brother, W. E. Harris and family. _ Miss Mary Iselman returned to Laporte today after visiting Miss Charlotte Kanne for several days. Mr. Pete Sondergrath, of Fowler, was also a guest of Miss Kanne. The Junior Aid Society will meet Thursday evening, July Bth, with m.rs. Clara Andrus. There will be a picnic program and usual business meeting. Every member and family is urged to be present.
Mr.jmd Mrs. G. H. McLain and son will leave tomorrow for Wauseon, Ohio, to spend a vacation of about three weeks. The Republican will keep them posted on affairs here during their absence. , John A- Randle, formerly of this county but for several years a resident of Oklahoma, is now engaged in the drug business at Sayre, that state, to which place he has ordered his Republican sent. Miss Elizabeth Cameron, of Chicago, who had been visiting her cousin, Mrs. George Reed, several days, returned to her home today, and Miss Grace Cameron, of Puna, Hl., remained for a longer visit. Mrs. S. J. Dowle and daughter, Miss Gertrude, of Chicago, came Saturday to visit Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Prior. Miss Dowle returned to Chicago this morning, her mother remaining until the last of the week. Mrs. Lillian B. Robinson, of Los Angeles, Cat, is visiting her brother, J. L. Hagins, of this city. Miss Claire T/mise Hagins came down from Chicago for the week end and has been motoring with the family, showing out city to her aunt The ForTwayne militia company, which came near being mustered out of the service for inefficiency, has been brought up to federal requirements in numbers and will be retained in the service. The weather became so cool yesterday and last night as to make a fire in the home comfortable and some report having started basebuEJers.
