What Will Be Attitude Of Note From Germany?
It will probably be another week before we receive a note from Germany in answer to the latest note sent to them regarding “wasp” warfare. The attitude of Germany cannot be ascertained before that time. The delay of the Germans in answering is believed to be a sign that they are gravely considering the matter apd will send a favorable reply. In a late article published in Der Tag Admiral Oscar von Trupp, a prominent German officer, contributed an article warning his compatriots not to underestimate the danger of a breach with the United States. He says that they should seriously consider the question whether the value of Germany’s submarine warfare against British commerce is great enough to justify its continuance in the present form at the expense of a rupture with a trans-Atlantic nation. The article is said to be remarkable in many ways.
